More than 1,000 of the best young tennis players in the region descended upon Los Cab June 15-17 and June 19-23 for what has been an annual tradition at the club for more than four decades – the Southern California Tennis Association Junior Sectionals. Contested for the 117th time this summer, the event over the years has seen many of its competitors go on to become the top professionals in the sport.

The SCTA Level 1 event, also a USTA Level 3 event, included divisions for boys and girls from 10U to 18U, as well as boys and girls 18U doubles Second-seeded Alexander Petrov captured the boys 18 singles title, while third seeded Maya Pitts won the top singles division for girls.

“Los Cab has hosted many Sectional Championships over the years and is a historical piece of USTA Southern California Junior Sectionals,” said Trevor Kronemann, Director of Junior Tennis for the USTA in Southern California. “So many of the great Sectional Champions have gone on to win Grand Slams championships on the world stage.”
