SAFETY FIRST

While pool time at Los Cab is often a highlight of the season for kids and adults alike, there are certain things to keep in mind to make it enjoyable for all. General Manager Michael Kane offers these three tips for staying safe around the pools: >> Keep a close eye on kids. A good rule of thumb is to never let kids out of your sight. Young swimmers can get in trouble in the water quickly, and swift action can help avoid an emergency situation.

We are a “no lifeguard on duty” pool, so it’s particularly important to keep an eye on kids in the pool. >> Sign up for swimming lessons. The best way to develop confident swimmers is for them to learn from qualified instructors.

Your kid doesn’t have to become an Olympic butterfly champion, but learning the basics will keep them safe and help them enjoy the water. >> Apply (and re-apply) sunscreen. Using a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 50 is the best way to avoid sunburns, and this is particularly important around the pool as a reflection of the water intensifies the sun’s impact on your skin. Remember to re-apply every 2-3 hours.
