One of the year ’s most anticipated events at Los Caballeros Sports Village is just around the corner,
with the club’s annual Tennis Calcutta set to return during the weekend of October 18-20. Part of what makes the Calcutta such a great experience is the camaraderie that forms during the event as participants compete in a unique format and bid on teams. And while the tournament is competitive, it also produces a lot of fun – especially during the party the night before, which this year will feature a Renaissance theme.

“Some people get super into it and go all out,” said Joshua Baar at the tennis desk, adding that previous themes have included Roaring ‘20s, Halloween, and ‘70s and ‘80s parties. “I can see people putting a lot of effort into their costumes this year.”

The Friday night soirée will feature dinner, music, dancing, raffles, a casino night, a costume contest and bidding on teams participating in the Calcutta, which will determine seeding for the tennis competition. Registration is open through October 6, and the $90 entry fee includes admission into the party and two days of tennis, lunch both days, dinner, prizes and more. Members are also welcome to attend just the party if they want to enjoy the prematch festivities and watch the weekend Calcutta. Child care will be available Friday night.

“It’s easily the biggest event we do each year,” said Tracy Harris at the tennis desk. “It’s one that all of our members get really excited about – and it brings the entire club together.”
