After opening as American Kiddo Academy last fall, the educational arm of Los Cab’s child care department has a new name, Townsquare Learning Center. And while the moniker has changed, its mission is the same: to serve as an afterschool program that educates kids in grades
3-5 in S.T.E.A.M. subjects (science, technology, engineering, arts and math), offer tutoring and ho mework assistance, and motivate kids to achieve academic success by keeping them engaged and excited about learning.
“Most people have heard of S.T.E.M. education, but we add arts into that equation,” said Townsquare Learning Center ’s General Manager Andy Chan. “We’re combining technology and art in things like our robotics classes and multimedia production.” Tutoring is offered in English and math, and students can participate in elective programs such as robotics, theater, art, movie and music production, sports and more.
For those parents planning ahead, registration is now open for summer programs, which will be available Monday-Friday from June 17-August 31. Kids ages 7-12 will experience hands-on learning (highlights include robotics, GarageBand and iMovie) and engage in various athletic activities. Parents can enroll their children for the entire summer or specific weeks.
